Google Search Advocate, John Muller recently ran a poll – Will SEO be dead in 2 years?
The world of the web is in flux. There are so many search engines now, and they’re all doing search differently than last year. (And I don’t have anything to share about tomorrow either.)

Is SEO finally going away?

About 5200 responses were received to this poll while we were writing this blog and 45.9% were of the opinion that SEO is here to stay.

The question gains more weightage with the recent launch of ChatGPT and Bard. While Microsoft deploys OpenAI’s ChatGPT technology on its search engine, Bing, Google’s Bard is the next-generation language and conversational AI service, powered by LaMDA.

What is the future of SEO?

The future of SEO is constantly evolving, as search engines continue to improve their algorithms and the way people search for information online changes. Here are some of the key trends and predictions for the future of SEO:

  1. Voice Search: With the rise of voice-activated devices such as Amazon Echo and Google Home, voice search is becoming more popular. SEO experts will need to optimize their websites for voice search to ensure they show up in search results when people use this method to find information.
  2. Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important in the world of SEO. Search engines are using AI to better understand user intent and provide more relevant search results. SEO experts will need to be familiar with AI technologies and understand how to optimize their websites for AI-driven search results.
  3. Mobile Optimization: With more and more people using their mobile devices to search for information, mobile optimization will become even more important in the future. SEO experts will need to ensure their websites are optimized for mobile devices, including having a responsive design and fast page loading times.
  4. Structured Data: Structured data, also known as schema markup, will play a larger role in the future of SEO. Search engines use structured data to understand the content on a website and provide more informative search results. SEO experts will need to be familiar with structured data and understand how to implement it on their websites.
  5. User Experience: User experience (UX) will continue to be a key factor in the future of SEO. Search engines will place more emphasis on websites that provide a good user experience, including fast loading times, easy navigation, and high-quality content.

These are just a few of the trends and predictions for the future of SEO. As technology continues to evolve, it’s important for SEO experts to stay informed and adapt their strategies accordingly.
